Hi,

I am Tony Lord from Student Union Surveys. I've been really pleased to be given the chance to put this section of the web site together for you. I've been using Survey Swift for a while now and its really easy to use. But I do remember when I first started how frustrated I became, after the initial honeymoon, as there was no written guide at that time.
I could see the power of the system, but I could not work out some of the ways to do things.
So here's your own personal guide - to hold your hand as you explore the possibilities for using Survey Swift to gather information of all sorts.
If this is your first survey here's what others I have taught have found to be a useful initial approach.

First sketch out your questionnaire. No need to be too precise, just get an idea written down of the sorts of questions and the route through them.
Next read through this guide and look at the various question types. Check each one out against your written questions. You did write them down, didn't you?
Now go back and rewrite your questionnaire informed by your new understanding. Use this guide to help clarify any questions you have as they arise.

Happy questionnaire writing.

Tony Lord

P.S. use the Feedback Form with any questions, queries and suggestions for improvement.

Introduction

This section of the web site shows you how to build your questionnaire using Survey Swift. As recommended above, before you start, you will have composed your questionnaire on paper and checked it out with a colleague or two. If you have the questionnaire in electronic form, Word, Excel or in a Text file, then so much the better.

First there is an overview of the structure of the elements from which your questionnaire is to be built. Read this bit first.

Next the way you build the opening and closing pages for your questionnaire is discussed. This also tells you about how you can edit the Section and Chapter elements of the main questionnaire.

Then into the heart of the business, a detailed look at the questions themselves. What types of questions are there? How do you select the right options for the question types.

Now on to the second section about questions, organising your question flow. Survey Swift allows you to construct a path through your questions for your respondent driven by their responses. A powerful tool for you. Finally, a look at how to handle multimedia. It can be used in several areas, this section shows you the controls you can use.

"I found the software extremely simple to use with some excellent features including filters on questions to make the survey more efficient and less time consuming for respondents, the ability to monitor feedback as it came in and a very simple, easy process for producing reports after the survey was closed.

I appreciated Student Union Surveys being available whenever I needed help or support and also making the effort to call and check that I was completely satisfied with the service I was getting from their organisation.

The software and support have greatly reduced the amount of time I have had to spend on a project with extremely tight deadlines."
